Have you set any poker-related goals for 2022? A common goal is to win your way into a major live poker tournament. Americas Cardroom and Black Chip Poker are giving you the chance to do exactly that. How? With satellites to the Punta del Este Takedown in Uruguay.
Punta del Este is a beautiful city in southeastern Uruguay. It is a seaside resort on the Atlantic Coast, and is often referred to as “the Monaco of the South” or “The Pearl of the Atlantic.” Punta del Este has a population of a mere 9,300. However, the city expects hundreds of poker players in February thanks to the Punta del Este Takedown event. You can be one of them if you win $8,000 package at Americas Cardroom or Black Chip Poker.
Win Your $8,000 Package to Uruguay
At least ten players are heading to Uruguay from the Punta del Este Main Satellites. Two of these satellites take place, each offering five packages. January 16 at 16:00 ET sees a $109 buy-in satellite with five packages guaranteed. The second takes place at the same time a week later, also guaranteeing five packages.
Get your hands on a package to head to Uruguay armed with the following.
- Three $1,100 tickets to the Enjoy Poker Series Main Event
- $2,000 for airfare
- $1,000 in spending money
- Seven nights double occupancy accommodation at the Enjoy Punta del Este Resort and Casino from February 7-13
- Airport transportation
- Free breakfast each day
The hotel features 294 rooms with breathtaking ocean views, nine restaurants and bars, a spa, a convention center, and much more.
The $109 buy-in for the Uruguay satellites is at the more affordable end of the scale, but there are cheaper routes into it. Freerolls run twice per day and award 45 seats to the $1.10 SuperSat. These SuperSats pay seats to the $11 Mega satellites, which feed into the $109 Main satellite. Buying in at any stage is permitted, just ensure you reach the $109 finale where the $8,000 packages lay in wait.
What To Expect at the Punta del Este Takedown
Punta del Este has a long and illustrious history when it comes to poker tournaments. Several major tours stopped off in Uruguay before the COVID-19 pandemic destroyed travel plans.
partypoker LIVE held the partypoker MILLIONS South America festival there in February 2020. This was the last time a major tournament series took place. Brazilian Pablo Brito Silva took down the $10,300 Main Event for $1,000,000.
The $1,100 MILLIONS Mini Main Event, a similar-sized tournament to the Punta del Este Takedown, drew in a crowd of 759 players. Alejandro Arnould of Uruguay won that day; he took home $155,000 for his efforts.
The WSOP International Circuit took place at the casino in December 2019. Its Main Event commanded a $1,100 buy-in. Some 600 players turned out in force, but only one man remained after five days. Brazilian Joao Bauer got his hands on $110,000 and a coveted WSOPC ring.
Players To Watch
Uruguay has some incredibly talented poker tournament players within its borders. Many of those Uruguayans will head to the casino and attempt to emerge victoriously.
Fabrizio Javier Gonzalez Cataldi has $2,318,472 in winnings. This princely sum is enough to top the country’s all-time money listings. Only two other players have seven-figures worth of earnings. Pablo Joaquin Melogno Cabrera ($2,278,262) in addition to Brian Kaufman Esposito ($1,126,739).
Furthermore, look out for the players who frequently cash at the Conrad Punta del Este Resort & Casino. Joaquin Walter (17), Cesar Sanguinetti (16), Daniel Camposonico (16), Mario Niciforo (16), and Federico Sturzenegger (16). In addition, Jorge Arsenio Centurion (15) and Gonzalo Garcia (14) are serial cashers.
