The Top Five Trending Players on The Hendon Mob
The Hendon Mob website has been around for many years. It’s a go-to site to check live poker tournament results. The trending players feature is also popular as it reveals the players users around the world are searching for. These are the current top five trending players on The Hendon Mob database.
China’s Wenling Gao Is Number One in the Trending Players Charts
Hardly anyone knew about Wenling Gao until last weekend but now she’s number one on the trending players list. The Chinese grinder had $680,113 in live tournament winnings, which is solid but not spectacular. So why is Wenling topping the trending players chart?
The two main reasons Gao is trending are simple. She’s a female poker player, which is something of a relative rarity. Oh, she finished second in the 2020 WSOP Online Main Event for $2,748,605.
This incredible result put Gao on the poker map. It would have been phenomenal for the game had she won, but finishing second is great for attracting more female players to this amazing game.
Winning the 2020 WSOP Online Main Events Has Stoyan Madanzhiev Second in the Trending Players Listings
There’s nothing like winning almost $4 million dollars to make someone become popular. Bulgaria’s Stoyan Madanzhiev is number two in the trending players listings after his recent huge victory.
Madanzhiev triumphed in the 2020 WSOP Online Main Event, the biggest single online poker tournament in history. He outlasted 5,801-opponents, including Wenling Gao, and secured a $3,904,686 prize. The Bulgarian only had $31,268 in winnings before this epic victory, now he’s a multi-millionaire.
People Are Remembering the Late Mike Sexton
It’s unsurprising to discover Mike Sexton is one of the top trending players right now. The Poker Hall of Fame member and the all-round poker legend passed away on September 6.
Sexton touched the lives of so many poker players and the wider community. He was instrumental in the creation of online poker and satellite tournaments.
Most remember Sexton for his time as a World Poker Tour commentator, but he was also a top poker player. Sexton won $6,708,146 from tournaments during his career, including two seven-figure scores.
He won a WSOP bracelet in a Seven-Card Stud event in 1989, but his favorite result came in November 2011 when he took down the WPT Montreal Main Event.
Sexton died following a battle with prostate cancer and is already sorely missed.
Tyler Rueger Is The Fourth Most Popular Player Right Now
Finishing in third-place in the 2020 WSOP Online Main Event is why Tyler Ruger is one of the top trending players. The man from New York was relatively unknown, the operative word being was.
His previous recorded tournament cashes weighed in at a shade under $50,000. A 325th place at the 2018 WSOP made up the bulk of those winnings. Now he has a $1,928,887 score to brag about and a much-elevated status in the poker world.
Fedor Holz Is Always Super Popular
Fedor Holz needs no introduction. The German is extremely popular and a regular in the trending players lists, Holz is meant to be retired but he just can’t stay away from the biggest tournaments!
Holz has more than $32.5 million in live poker tournament winnings and millions more from online. He now has two WSOP bracelets. The first came in 2016 in the $111,111 High Roller which netted Holz $4,981,775. He came close to winning another in 2018 but ultimately finished second in the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop for a career-best $6 million.
Now he has bracelet number two after triumphing in the $25,000 NLHE Heads-Up event at GGPoker. Holz bested a ridiculously tough field to get his hands on the gold and another $1,077,025 in prize money.
