MSPT Heads To The Venetian Las Vegas For 2021 Finale

The 12th Season of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) takes place at The Venetian Las Vegas between December 28-30, 2021.

The current year ends in less than two weeks, but there is still time to boost your poker bankroll if you are a live tournament fan. This is because the Season 12 finale of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) takes place at The Venetian Las Vegas from December 28-30.

The $1,100 MSPT Main Event is part of the Venetian DeepStack New Year’s Extravaganza Poker Series, which means to expect a massive turnout. Organizers think the same because they placed a $500,000 guarantee on the prize pool. There are two Day 1s, each seeing you sit down with 25,000 chips, and play to a 40-minute clock. Day 2 shuffles up and deals at 11:00 on December 30, and continues until there is a champion.

Piggybacking onto other live events in Las Vegas saw the MSPT award some bumper prizes. Its opening event in 2021 saw James Carroll win at The Venetian and scoop $180,850. Harlen Miller won a $1,100 event at The Venetian later in the year for a cool $367,801.

This finale has $500,000 guaranteed, so expect a top prize of six figures.

England Set to Win the Player of the Year Race

The December 28 finale is the players’ last chance to try and catch Kyna England in the Player of the year race. England has 4,750 points, with Cy Church in second place on 3,925. Milwaukee‘s England becomes the Player of the Year if Church does not finish in the top three of the Main Event.

England is enjoying an incredible year and is an up-and-coming star. She racked up half a dozen cashes in 2018-19 before enjoying her first outright victory in February 2020. That win came in a $250 Ladies Event at WSOPC Potawatomi and came with $4,436 in prize money.

She racked up $20,944 in cashes by the end of 2020. However, her lifetime earnings now tip the scales at $770,378 following an incredible 2021.

A third-place finish in the $1,100 MSPT Iowa Main Event in March came with a $73,782 payout. That career-best score boosted England’s bankroll and confidence. Best was still to come when England bought into the $5,000 WPT Venetian Main Event. She navigated her way through most of the 1,199-strong field before coming unstuck in third place. A $448,775 prize made its way to England’s bank account.

England was not done and became the MSPT Minnesota Winter Poker Classic champion in December. She topped a field of 1,042 entrants to bank $186,709. What a fantastic year.
