Bryn Kenney Leads as Wynn Millions Reaches Day 2
The first-ever Wynn Summer Classic is in full swing in Las Vegas, and the Wynn Millions is grabbing everyone’s attention. The $10,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament comes with a whopping $10 million guaranteed prize pool. A field of 1,328 entrants over three flights resulted in a $13,280,000 prize pool.
Day 1A of the Wynn Millions saw 263 players buy in, and 92 progress to Day 2. The second flight was larger with 148 of the 389 starters punching their Day 2 tickets. Day 1C, the third and final flight, had 676 players buy-in and 261 players surviving.
Peter Braglia earned the title of Day 1A chip leader after accumulating a 321,500 stack. Braglia is in hot form having finished second in the $1,600 MSPT Las Vegas event for $282,269 only a fortnight ago.
Scores of poker’s superstars joined Braglia in progressing from Day 1A of the Wynn Millions. Cliff Josephy (317,000), Joseph Cheong (301,500), and Alex Foxen (295,500) each bagged up top five stacks. Such luminaries as Jason Koon (236,500) and James Calderaro (211,500) found themselves in the top ten.
Kenney Claims Day 1B and Overall Wynn Millions Chip Lead
Day 1B was equally, if not more star-studded than the opening flight. Bryn Kenney finished the night armed with 376,500 chips. His stack was large enough to claim both the Day 1B chip lead and, ultimately, the overall lead.
Kenney is the number one player in poker’s all-time money listing. The man from Long Beach, New York, has an incredible $56,403,501 in lifetime earnings. He is now on course to add more than $2 million to that ridiculous sum.
Kristen Bicknell is happy with her performance in the Wynn Million so far. The popular Canadian grinder finished with a 282,000 stack, enough for third place in the overnight counts.
Shaun Deeb (205,000), Sergio Aido (204,500), Connor Drinan (142,500), and Chris Moorman (97,000) were among the Day 1B survivors.
Franklin Fok Out-chips Stars on Wynn Millions Day 1C
Day 1C saw Franklin Fok finish as the chip leader courtesy of his 347,000 stack. Fok only has four recorded live cashes on his resume, but they add up to $519,970. The bulk of that total stems from Fok’s $457,355 prize awarded in 2019. Fok finished second behind Jason Mercier in the $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.
The final flight saw the likes of Matas Cimbolas (235,000) and Anthony Zinno (169,000) progress, in addition to five players who are members of the Poker Hall of Fame.
John Hennigan (120,000), Jack McClelland (99,500), Daniel Negreanu (77,500), Johnny Chan (36,500), and Erik Seidel (8,000) being that quintet.
More Than $2 Million Awaits The Champion
The turnout for the Wynn Millions was that huge that there are two Day 2s. Day 2AB is made up of the surviving players from both Day 1A and 1B. Day 2C is made up of those who made it through from Day 1C.
There are 501 players returning to the felt over the next couple of days, and only 134 receive prize money. A min-cash is worth $25,901, with a final table appearance worth $202,765. Whoever takes down the Wynn Millions walks away with a cool $2,018,666.
