The Six WPTWOC Championship Event Winners So Far

partypoker has crowned six of a planned 10 World Poker Tour World Online Championship (WPTWOC) champions so far. All six have won prizes ranging from $92,105 up to a cool $540,664!
Two of the series’ three Main Event kick off this weekend so what better time to look at the current crop of WPTWOC champions?
Paul Tedeschi Wins WPTWOC Omaha Hi-Low Event
Paul Tedeschi won the first WPTWOC event of the series, a $3,200 Omaha Hi-Lo tournament with $1 million guaranteed.
Tedeschi is better-known for his No-Limit Hold’em prowess rather than PLO8 but you wouldn’t know judging on this performance. The UK-based Frenchman didn’t look out of place against some of the game’s top PLO8 players and was worthy of his $92,105 top prize.
That prize would have been larger, but he struck a three-way deal with Dan Shak and Anssi Kinttala.

Alex Manzano Become PLO WPTWOC Champion
Week 2 of the WPTWOC saw play switch to Pot-Limit Omaha, dropping the hi-low element. Six different countries were represented at the final table and it was Chile who came out on top.
All eyes were on Mike Leah and Laszlo Bujtas before the final table began. Neither could quite get the job done, however. Leah busted in fourth for a $76,672 score with Bujtas falling in third for $106,163. Bujtas is a high stakes PLO cash game specialist so was the hot favorite.
Heads-up pitted Alex Manzano against British amateur Paresh Doshi. Manzano brushed his final opponent aside and got his hands on $176,131.

Gavin Cochrane Won the First NLHE WPTWOC Championship Event
Gavin Cochrane won the first No-Limit Hold’em championship of the WPTWOC. Cochrane, like the aforementioned Tedeschi, managed to win an event he doesn’t specialize in.
Cochrane much prefers PLO to NLHE but still walked away with this tournament’s $540,664 top prize. This represents the largest WPTWOC payout to date, not bad for a PLO grinder!

Nick Petrangelo Puts on a Short-Handed Masterclass
Nick Petrangelo is one of the best players to ever step foot in a poker tournament and he put on a real masterclass display in the WPTWOC 6-Max Championship.
Petrnagelo started the final table as one of the shortest stack but was a beast once he doubled. He sent his opponents to the rail one by one. WPT commentator Tony Dunst described Petrangelo’s victory as the best final table performance he’d ever seen.

Daniel Smyth Turns $33 Into $430,000
Ireland’s Daniel Smyth works a stressful job in the finance industry but is a keen poker player in the evenings. He could probably have afforded the $3,200 buy-in of the WPTWOC Knockout event but decided to try satellite in.
Smyth managed to win a $3,200 seat for a mere $33. He went on to win $413,391 with bounties included after defeating Manig Loeser heads-up. A $15,000 entry to the next Tournament of Champions boosted Smyth’s already impressive haul.

Andrey Kotelnikov: From Russia With Love
The latest WPTWOC event crowned its champion on August 25 and Andrey Kotelnikov was that champion. The Russian triumphed in the WPTWOC Mix-Max Championship and scooped a cool $488,508.
Kotelnikov got lucky in one spot but his play was otherwise flawless. He defeated the UK’s Stuart Guite heads-up with the Brit securing a career-best $366,604.
