Timothy Adams Secures First Super MILLION$ Title

Timothy Adams is the latest high profile poker player to win the GGPoker Super MILLION$ tournament. The Super MILLION$ is a $10,000 buy-in weekly event that attracts the very best players in the world. Adams has played in 24 of the 26 tournaments and now has his first victory.

GGPoker Super MILLION$ Final Table Results

A field of 173 superstars bought in on Day 1, which took place on December 6. They played down to the nine-handed final table and those nine grinders returned to battle on December 8.

Only the 20 finishers received a slice of the $1,730,000 prize pool. Byron Kaverman popped the money bubble, locking up $22,368 for the surviving players. Such luminaries as Elio Fox, Benjamin Rolle, Nick Petrangelo, and Samuel Vousden cashed. As did Isaac Haxton, Mikita Badziakouski and final table bubble boy Dario Sammartino.

Adams Leads As Super MILLION$ Final Table Begins

The first player busted from the final table on the very first hand played. Seth Davies raised to 136,000 at the 30,000/60,000/7,500a level, one player folded, and Anatoly Filatov three-bet all-in for 816,519. The action folded back to Davies who instantly called and turned over pocket aces. Filatov flipped over pocket queens but couldn’t connect with the board.

Davies fell in eighth-place during the 40,000/80,000/10,000a level. Adams open-raised to 160,000 from the button and called with ace-queen when Davies jammed all-in from the small blind for 1,942,645. Davies’ ace-king was ahead of Adams’ hand, but only until a queen appeared on the flop. Adams’ hand held and Davies headed for the exits.

Seventh place and the last five-figure prize of the night went to Laurynas Levinkas. It was a coinflip that saw the Lithuanian bust out. Adams min-raised again, Fabrice Touil three-bet all-in and Levinksas called off the last of his chips. Adams folded and watched as Touil’s queens stayed ahead of Levinskas’ ace-king.

Touil, a Frenchman living in Brazil, started the final table with only 3.5 big blinds. He walked away with $110,335 and a sixth-place finish despite being the shortest stack. Touil crashed out at the hands of Adams who was running hotter than the sun. Touil pinned his hopes on pocket kings, but they lost to Adams’ ace-queen courtesy of a flopped ace.

Dangerous Papazian Crashes Out In Fifth

Alex Papazian was hopeful of taking down the Super MILLION$ but ultimately fell in fifth. This was Papazian’s first Super MILLION$ final table appearance and his third cash. He collected $136,106 when his ace-king lost to the pocket nines of Jans Arends. Papazian was drawing dead by the turn because Arends turned a full house.

The final two Russian players clashed in an all-in preflop pot to reduce the player count by one. Artur Martirosian shipped in 12 big blinds with ace-queen from the small blind. “MAMOHT_T” woke up with pocket queens in the big blind and had an easy call. The queens held and Martirosian feel in fourth. Martirosian loves this tournament having six cashes, a victory, and now $887,703 in winnings.

MAMOHT_T’s exit in third sent the Super MILLION$ heads-up. The Russian committed his last nine big blinds with the lowly king-three. Adams called with jack-ten and hit a straight on the turn!

Canada’s Adams In Command Going Into Heads-Up

Adams’ 12,179,448 stack dwarfed the 5,120,552 of Arends but the latter only need one double to turn the battle on its head. That never happened because a cooler hand settled matters in Adams’ favor.

Arends min-raised to 400,000 with ace-queen and Adams raised to 1,180,000 with pocket queens. Arends pushed all-in for 7,166,104 in total with ace-queen and Adams snapped him off. A jack-high board sent Arends home in second-place for $255,485, leaving Adams to bank $315,158.

Winning the Super MILLION$ means there’s little left for Adams to win that he hasn’t already. We guess he’ll just try to triumph in everything at least twice.
