Rhode Island is the smallest US state by area but also the second-most densely populated. There are hundreds of poker players among the 1,059,361 population and some big winners, too. The Ocean State’s five biggest live poker tournament players have $6,425,847 in combined winnings. That is a healthy total, all things considered.
Aram Zobian, Soukha Kachittavong, Anna Wroblewski, Bradley St. Vincent, and Bob Ricciuti are the most prominent Rhode Island winners. Let us learn a little more about this quintet of stars.
Aram Zobian is the Biggest Poker Winner in Rhode Island
Aram Zobian has $2,545,042 in live tournament winnings, enough for the number one spot in the Rhode Island money list. Zobian put Rhode Island on the poker map in 2018 when he reached the WSOP Main Event final table. Zobian managed to ladder a few places before busting in sixth place, a finish worth $1,800,000.
The $1.8 million score gave Zobian a significant bankroll boost in addition to allowing him the freedom to play whatever poker tournaments he wishes. This has resulted in him racking up more impressive results over the past two years.
Zobian finished second in a $10,000 High Roller event at Bellagio, Las Vegas, for $64,400. He narrowly missed out on a WSOP bracelet again last summer when he finished fifth in the online poker edition of the $25,000 Poker Players Championship. That result saw Zobian bank $529,005.
He already has two final table appearances this year despite the COVID-19 lockdowns. A sixth-place finish in a $10,000 event netted Zobian $31,800. His seventh-place exit from a $25,000 buy-in event saw him reel in $60,000.
Soukha Kachittavong is a Grinder From Rhode Island
Soukha Kachittavong hails from Woonsocket, Rhode Island, but it appears he is hardly ever there. Kachittavong has more than 200 live poker tournament cashes to his name, which adds up to $1,511,649.
Kachittavong spends most of his time grinding at Foxwoods, Mashantucket, and at the Borgata in Atlantic City. He has a six-figure score at each of these venues. Victory in the $560 Borgata Spring Poker Open in Atlantic City in April 2017 netted Kachittavong $127,637. His win in the $2,500 Foxwoods Poker Classic in March 2019 was worth $101,827.
Anna Wrobelwski is the Top Female Player From Rhode Island
Anna Wroblewski was born in Vietnam but now called Providence, Rhode Island, home. Wroblewski is the only female player in the state’s top ten, a position she holds courtesy of her $1,136,694 winnings.
Wroblewski has some excellent results on his poker resume, including two six-figure prizes. She won $192,876 for a fourth-place finish in a $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em event at the 2007 WSOP. That impressive haul came two months after he enjoyed a career-best score of $337,395, awarded for winning a $3,180 buy-in tournament in Las Vegas.
Bradley St. Vincent is Approaching $750,000 in Winnings
Bradley St. Vincent of Bristol, Rhode Island, enjoyed his best form in 2015. It is this year that he won almost half of his $718,269 career winnings. His decision to play at the 2015 WSOP was vindicated with a massive result. A 58th place finish in the Main Event saw $113,764 make its way to St. Vincent’s bank account. Three weeks later, he won another $111,984 in the $10,000 WSOP National Championship in Cherokee.
St. Vincent’s volume had dropped off significantly over the past couple of years. He cashed only three times in 2017, one in 2019, and was not seen in 2020. Here is hoping he returns to the felt soon and chasing down the $1 million in winnings total.
Bob Ricciuti is a Regular Feature at Foxwoods
Bob Ricciuti calls Johnston, Rhode Island home, but he spends a lot of time at Foxwoods, Mashantucket. It is at this iconic casino that Ricciuti has enjoyed much of his success.
Ricciuti has $582,298 in live tournament winnings. Some $134,413 of that princely sum stems from him triumphing in a WSOP Circuit event at Foxwoods. Ricciuti won the $1,700 buy-in Main Event for a career-best haul plus a coveted WSOPC ring.
