The Best Poker Rooms Outside Las Vegas
Las Vegas is the place to play live poker. Some see it as the Mecca of this crazy game. Sin City houses some of the best poker rooms in the world, but it isn’t the only place to play. There are some superb poker rooms dotted around the planet, from Canada to the United Kingdom. From the Czech Republic to Macau. These are the best poker rooms outside of Las Vegas.
Best Poker Rooms: Dusk Till Dawn
Dusk Till Dawn’s owner once famously described his poker room as “a shed on an industrial estate in Nottingham.” That statement could not be further away from the truth, it’s arguably the best poker room outside Vegas. Rob Yong had to jump through hoops and cut through red tape to open DTD but the British poker community is delighted he persevered.
The venue has hosted World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker Circuit events. Players have enjoyed playing for massive prizes, including Maria Lampropulos who won £1 million there. Its Trickett’s Room, named after British pro Sam Trickett, sees huge cash games take place. But what makes DTD special is it has never forgotten its roots or is core players.
You can still head to DTD during the week and play in £20 buy-in tournaments. £1/£1 cash games are also available. DTD is now the home of British poker and long may that be the case.
Playground Poker Club
The Playground Poker Club in Quebec, Canada opened for business in 2010 and quickly gained a great reputation. Seventy-five poker tables fill the 128,000 square feet poker room, making it one of the biggest in the world.
Playground Poker Club has hosted several partypoker LIVE events, World Poker Tours and the World Cup of Cards. Two bad beat jackpots of more than $1 million have been hit in the past two years, too. It is easy to see why Playground’s patrons rate it as one of the best poker rooms in the world.
Having the biggest of something does not always equate to being the best but Commerce Casino will argue differently. The poker room at the Commerce is the largest in the world thanks to an incredible 240 tables. Only the best poker rooms have the ability to run so many tables concurrently and Commerce excels in all departments.
Cash games run 24/7 with Hold’em, Omaha, Stud and H.O.R.S.E among the games spread. No-Limit Hold’em buy-ins start at only $40 and climb well into five-figures. Tournament players are well-catered for with a massive range of buy-in. Commerce also runs the L.A. Poker Classic January through March, and the L.A. Poker Open every November. It truly is one of the best poker rooms on the planet.
King’s Resort: One of the best poker rooms in Europe
It is likely you have never heard of Rozvadov unless you are a fan of poker. Rozvadov is located 143km west of Prague in the Czech Republic and borders with Germany. The King’s Resort casino is located within the quaint town.
Leon Tsoukernik, an art collector and poker player, opened King’s in June 2003 and focussed on table games. By 2009, Tsoukernik switched tactics and made poker his priority. King’s Resort now has the largest poker room in Europe and some say its one of the best poker rooms.
King’s has made itself the home of the World Series of Poker Europe festival since 2017. The contract runs until 2022 with discussion already taking place for an extension.
Cash games galore run all day every day, while tournaments have guarantees ranging from €3,000 into the millions. Check out King’s if you are going on a tour of the best poker rooms in the world!
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa
Located in Atlantic City, the Borgata boasts of one of the best poker rooms in the United States. Cash games are available, although Borgata specializes in tournament poker. The WPT heads to Borgata at least once per year, but its lower buy-in events are popular.
For example, on October 19, Borgata ran a $100,000 guaranteed Saturday Series tournament. Some 375 players bought in for $400 and created a $131,250 prize pool. The final table of nine struck a deal and all walked away with $11,095 for their efforts.
There is no place like Borgata for low-to-mid stakes MTTs, it is the best poker rooms for tournaments.
Casino Sochi, Russia
Russia may not be high on your list on places to visit for poker purposes but it should be. Sochi hosted the 2014 Winter Olympic Games but it also has beaches close by. The city also has the Casino Sochi, one of the best poker rooms in Europe.
Obtaining a visa to play at Casino Sochi is a pain but the games are worth the effort. The casino is frequented by tourists and rich Russian businessmen so the cash games are loose and juicy.
